Air conditioning works by using a simple but effective process called air convection to move heat from one place to another. Inside a standard AC unit, warm air from a room is pulled in and passed over a set of cold coils called the evaporator. These coils are filled with a special fluid called refrigerant, which absorbs the heat from the air, cooling it down. The now-cooled air is blown back into the room, while the refrigerant, now carrying the heat, travels to another coil outside the building called the condenser. There, the heat is released into the outdoor air, and the refrigerant is cooled down again, ready to repeat the cycle. This constant loop efficiently removes heat from indoors and pushes it outside, keeping the inside space cool and comfortable.

Every electronic device in your home—especially power-hungry ones like computers—generates heat as it runs. Even if a device has fans, liquid cooling, or high-end heat sinks, all those systems do is move the heat away from the components and release it into the surrounding air. The longer electronics operate, the more heat they generate, gradually raising the ambient temperature around them. As the room warms up, the effectiveness of the device’s own cooling system starts to drop, creating a feedback loop of rising heat. Most air conditioning systems rely on a central thermostat, which may not immediately register these localized temperature changes. Even with a mini-split system and an indoor unit positioned near the PC, there’s still a delay before the system reacts—allowing heat to accumulate before it's addressed.

That being said, air is a decent insulator but a poor conductor of heat. This means it takes time or power to push/pull heat away from electronics. However liquids, especially specially engineered ones made to be thermally conductive, are far better at absorbing and transferring heat quickly and efficiently. Our Khione Immersion Kooling System goes even further! First your PC is placed inside a sealed, insulated case, with a massive evaporator coil. Next we submerged it in a dielectric & thermally conductive liquid. That "cooler" unit is then linked directly to an outside minisplit condenser unit. This not only removes the heat entirely from the room, but it also creates an ultra-efficient heat exchange. The result? Operating temperatures 20 °C below even industrial-grade, direct-to-chip liquid cooling setups—making Khione a true game-changer for performance, reliability, and thermal control.
