Our Story
At Dark Matter Industries, we don’t just build products—we engineer revolutions. Every design, every prototype, and every partnership reflects our core mission: to redefine what’s possible through passion, precision, and the relentless pursuit of progress.
Our journey began with a single conviction: cooling should be better—not merely efficient, but transformative. It should be sustainable, scalable, and capable of unlocking the full potential of modern hardware.
Founded by Christopher Padgett, Clayton Padgett, Shane Richmond, and Marcus Richmond—all proud United States Marines—Dark Matter Industries was forged in the spirit of discipline, ingenuity, and unwavering resolve. Christopher, a lifelong technologist and visionary, first conceived what would become the Khione Sub-Zero Immersion Kooling System in 2007 while serving alongside Shane in the Marine Corps. What began as a dream to push PC cooling beyond its limits evolved into over a decade-long pursuit of perfection, refining performance, efficiency, and design with each new prototype.
Today, that pursuit continues through our partnership with Duratherm Fluids, a collaboration that has given rise to our proprietary engineered coolant, Kryotherm—a next-generation sub-zero dielectric fluid
co-developed for the Khione system. Kryotherm represents more than chemistry; it’s the physical manifestation of our vision—where advanced thermodynamics meets sustainable engineering, purpose-built to empower the future of high-performance computing.
