A Note on Our Funding Goal and Pricing Strategy
We’ve set our Kickstarter funding goal at $250,000 to maximize the chances of a successful campaign and build early momentum. While this amount is enough to begin assembly and fulfill backer units—depending on pledge levels—it doesn’t represent the full funding required to bring our long-term vision to life. To start, we’ll need to rent a temporary facility for assembly, and rely on off-the-shelf components and global supply chains, which are currently dominated by overseas providers.
Stretch goals have impact: the more support we receive, the more we can build in-house, reduce costs, and deliver not just a revolutionary product—but an affordable one.
Our target MSRP for the Khione SE v2 is $3,500, with the Khione Pro v1 planned at $4,000. However, if we are forced to rely on international suppliers and short-term logistics, the MSRP could rise by 35% or more. This not only impacts future customers but also makes it more difficult for Dark Matter Industries to achieve our mission of bringing manufacturing, innovation, and jobs back home. Regarding the Khione Pro Timeline
At this stage, we’re unable to provide a definitive production date for the Khione Pro v1 & SE v2. Their development is directly tied to reaching key Kickstarter milestones—specifically the $4 million milestone for the manufacturing machinery and the $4.5 million stretch goal for R&D and. These are essential to building the specialized components and infrastructure the Pro Edition requires.
That said, this does not mean we’ll be sitting idle. Regardless of whether we hit those stretch goals, we are fully committed to pushing the Khione Pro design forward with every available dollar. Development will continue behind the scenes, and should additional funding or strategic opportunities arise, we’ll move quickly to bring the Pro Edition to life as soon as feasibly possible.
